Arizona Native
Plant Society Description and Purpose: Awards will be made for purposes such as assisting with publication in scientific journals, publishing regional plant lists for general distribution, paying for artwork for publications, producing brochures and booklets for the general public, producing educational materials for schools, or developing web pages. A draft copy of the product will be required for consideration of a grant. Grants will be awarded to products that focus primarily on Arizona native plants and that will reach the broadest audience possible. Grants are not intended to fund research or on-going publications and will be awarded for external, non-profit products only. Applications are judged on the basis of their consistency with the purposes and selection criteria described above. If a grant is awarded, the applicant shall provide a copy of the final product to the Society and agree to publishing the product on the ANPS web page in whole or in part. If you are interested in applying for an ANPS Publication Grant, you can view/download a ANPS Publication Grant Application PDF file. Application deadline for 2006 is March 31, 2006. Awards will be announced by June 15, 2006.
ARIZONA RARE PLANT FIELD GUIDE This long-awaited book has finally been published by the U.S. Government Printing Office! The book was produced by the Arizona Rare Plant Committee, a collaboration of agencies and organizations, including ANPS. This handsome notebook-style field guide lists more than 125 species of plants that are rare in Arizona. For each species there is a description, including phenology, management responsibility, habitat, range, and notes. Beautiful drawings and color photos illustrate each species, along with a very general map. In addition, the species are listed not only by botanical name, but also by management responsibility (e.g., Coconino National Forest), and by county. A limited number of books are available free from the sponsoring organizations. Copies may be obtained from Forest Service offices, the Native Plant Society, the Arizona Nature Conservancy, and botanical gardens. If you cannot find one in your locale, send $4 to cover postage to ANPS, PO Box 41206, Tucson, AZ 85717. |
