Phoenix Chapter

YUMA CHAPTER

President—Mar-Elise Hill, Mar-Elise.Hill@azwestern.edu . Meetings are held at 6:00 pm on Wednesdays at the BLM office ( 2555 East Gila Ridge Road ).  Field trips meet the Saturday following the meeting at 8:30 in the BLM office parking lot, unless otherwise noted.  For more information contact: yuma@aznps.org or aznpsyuma@yahoo.com .

MEETINGS & FIELD TRIPS

This year the Yuma Chapter will be presenting a lecture on landscaping with desert natives and sell native plants at this year's Yuma Tree and Landscape Expo. The expo will be held at the Yuma Civic Center on Saturday October 28 th , 2006 . We need help with our plant sale. If you are interested please attend the October 11 th meeting or contact Mar-Elise Hill at 928-738-3228 or Mar-Elise.Hill@azwestern.edu.

Talk: Wednesday, October 11 Diamonds of the Desert . 6:00 pm at the BLM Office on Gila Ridge Road . The Sonoran Desert is home to many plants that are excellent choices for the home and public landscape. Join us as we explore desert plants that are not only beautiful but, low-water users and habitat for butterflies, birds, and more. Please bring stories of your own favorite desert plants to share.

Walk: Saturday, October 14 Field trip to Dripping Springs near Quartzsite . Meet in the BLM Office parking lot at 8:00 to carpool. Please bring sun protection, water, and food.

Talk: Wednesday, November 8 TBA

Walk: Saturday, November 11 Help Yuma East Wetlands with their weeds! Your help in pulling unwanted weeds from Yuma 's newest natural area will return the wetlands to their former glory. We will pull weeds from 8:00-12:00 . Meet in the parking lot of Prison Hill at 8:00 . Bring sun protection and work gloves. Water and snacks will be provided.
