TUCSON CHAPTER

Monthly programs are held on the 2 nd Wednesday of each month from September through May, beginning at 7:00pm (NOTE TIME CHANGE) at the Arizona Game & Fish Office, 555 N Greasewood (west side of road between Speedway & Anklam). Look for the ANPS sandwich board that marks the driveway. For information about the Tucson Chapter, please email tucson@aznps.org or our officers.

Join our chapter email events listing! The southern chapter has an e-list set up to bring you news of events, meetings, or outings related to native plants. We'll also alert you to volunteer opportunities along the way. Send your email address to Nancy Zierenberg at nzberg4@cox.net (don't forget to keep us updated on email address changes, as well as Postal address changes. It will save ANPS money!)

OTHER TUCSON HAPPENINGS

1-- The Grow Native: don't plant a pest brochure included in this mailing is the result of an ad hoc committee's work for the past year and a half. The committee raised all the money and support needed to print over 60,000 of these in English and Spanish. The target audience is newcomers to our area, but really for all those living in southern Arizona , to make people aware of the threats that invasive, non-native species pose to our environment. If you'd like to help distribute these brochures to your favorite neighborhood nursery, or another likely place, email Carianne at conservation@aznps.org to see how you can help.

2-- Be part of our create-a-garden project at the Game & Fish Office picnic area in Tucson . Plans are being finalized to put in a native plant tortoise garden and we will need your help to plant it! If you are interested in helping, call Nancy Zierenberg at 882-7663 or email nzberg4@cox.net. There are also plans being made for a gala event to celebrate the finished garden.

3-- If you are interested in becoming more active in efforts to protect native plants and habitat, join us at monthly Conservation Committee meetings. We always have fun and get things done! Meeting places and times vary. Sometimes we meet in our houses and sometimes at favorite restaurants. You can get on the e-list to receive announcements of meetings and topics of interest. Contact our Chair, Carianne Funicelli at conservation@aznps.org
