Programs are held at the Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 North Galvin Parkway, on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Meetings will be in either Webster Hall, or Dorrance Hall. Please look for signs when entering garden, or ask at the main gate. Each month an educational program is presented, chapter and state ANPS buisness is discussed, and members socialize with the guest speaker. MEETINGS AND FIELD TRIPS

Talk: Tuesday, September 12 Speaker: Joe McAuliffe, Director of Research at the Desert Botanical garden, will speak regarding his most recent research project which involves a study of effects of long term drought on Ambrosia (ragweed) and Larrea (creosote) in Sonoran and Mohave deserts.

Walk: Wednesday, September 25 Mesquite Wash area, Tonto National Forest . Leave Phoenix/Tempe @ 5:30 AM return before 12:00 noon . Explore Rock Creek and Mesquite Wash drainages along the northwest slopes of Four Peaks looking for lingering monsoon bloomers. Temperatures may be warm and getting hot at this elevation, about 900 meters. Be sure to bring sun protection, plenty of water and a light lunch to share. More info about area at

Talk: Tuesday, October 10 Speaker: Ruth Greenhouse will speak regarding her research on ethno-botanical subjects in Arizona .

Talk: Tuesday, November 14 Speaker: Brigitte Hogan, Graduate student with ASU, will speak regarding the flora and fauna of the Tibetan Plateau in Tibet . These plants and animals are found at an elevation around 10,000 ft. in a very isolated part of the world.

The Central Region (Phoenix area) chapter of ANPS did a joint trip with the Sonoran Audubon Society on Saturday, April 13th, 2003, to the Badger Springs Trail in the Agua Fria National Monument.
